Kath's beloved reckons that going to see a movie just because it's got Clive in it is shallow. Clearly, Kath doesn't mind what he thinks because she came along to The Boys are Back this evening without knowing a thing about it, other than its Clive-ness, its Cliverilitude, its proCliveties. We scored the best seats in a sold-out cinema, middle of the back row. Only we were stuck between two sets of biddies. The biddies to my left talked the whole way through, for example, such cinematic criticism as "that linen jacket of his is quite wrinkled, isn't it," and then began humming along to the soundtrack. The biddies to Kath's right also talked the whole way through - "Oh look, that's an IGA he's gone into." Of course, in a few decades that'll be us. We're half-way there. Thanks for a top night Kath.

Tonight I mixed up a little (ok, more like a BIG) concoction: 4 liters of water added to some salts and bicarbonate, plus a bit of pineapple flavoring tossed in for good measure. Tomorrow is colonoscopy prep day. I have to drink 8 oz of this mixture every 10 minutes, until, essentially, I begin poo-ing water. I cannot wait! Psyche! I was HOPING that by now our second bathroom would be completed and I would have a private place to perch upon for the day as I purge the pasta, cheeseburger, popcorn, peanut butter and shish-ke-bab remnants of the past few days. But nooooo... Not only do we all have to share one bathroom, but I get to evacuate with a crew of workment sawing and hammering away in the house. Why is it when I need a FLUSH, I get a FULL HOUSE?

Empty pots and broken toys The other day at work some woman who I barely know was standing in the kitchen when i came in for one of my roughly 15 cups of daily coffee (i actually only drink half cups at a time, though i don't know why. Probably the same theory behind my buying one pack of the cigaretens at a time. I reason that if I buy an entire carton of the smokes I would be admitting that I am hopelessly addicted. If i only buy one pack or drink a half cup of the Joe then I am not really obsessed and could quit either vice at any moment - last cup - last cig, really, i swear). Anyway I sauntered toward the coffee pot which is one of those large silver bullet-type pots with a black plastic pump handle that you see at like corporate events, and when i did this the kitchen woman said to me "I hope there's coffee because i understand you get a little testy when we run out." I loved this statement immediately because I always view my own self in sort of a pussy fashion. like I don't... (more)
